I wrapped up the year with an exciting commercial space photography assignment at Wynn Las Vegas Resort. The project involved photographing the stunning ballroom, prepared for the exclusive New Year’s Eve high roller party. The event featured a live concert by Lionel Richie.
Meeting the Client’s Expectations
The client requested a series of architectural photos to highlight the design and atmosphere of the space. These images would later be used for advertising, marketing materials, and portfolio purposes.
Challenges in Ballroom Photography
Ballroom photography presents unique challenges. Capturing such a vast, detailed environment required careful planning. I aimed to showcase both the grandeur of the space and the fine design elements. The combination of vibrant lighting, dramatic chandeliers, and stage setup created a dynamic atmosphere. Balancing these elements through the camera lens was essential.
Focusing on Design Details
In commercial interior photography, symmetry and reflections play a crucial role. I focused on capturing the symmetry of seating arrangements and reflections on the polished flooring. The interplay between event lighting and architectural features also needed attention. Wide-angle shots helped convey the full scale of the ballroom, while selective framing brought attention to the chandeliers and custom décor elements.
The Importance of Lighting Design
Lighting design played a key role in the final images. Bold hues of purple, pink, and gold created a festive yet elegant mood. I used longer exposures and precise white balance settings to maintain color accuracy and vibrancy throughout the shoot.
